I've done this.
I laid trunking for 240V with appropriate spurs off where I though I might
want an outlet.
Considerations have to be given to the type of trunking. metal versus
plastic.  In either case, keep it close to the extreme borders or ensure
you
lay deep enough not to accidentally dig it up or put your fork through it
when you come to turn over a piece of ground in later years.  I settled on
plastic trunking
for long term durability but left it close to the fences etc so I knew
where
it would be in later years.
I also ran separate irrigation pipes (again buried reasonably deep) at the
time I did the hard landscaping.  It's easier than putting them in later.
I don't water the lawn, just the borders and shrubs.
I have a mixture of LV and mains lighting either managed by dusk/dawn
sensors or an X10 configuration.   The irrigation is under the control of
X10 as well.   I'm doing a write up on it which I'll post on my site
shortly.
