Mystery solved - Just noticed that there is a check box in Ulead DVD workshop to enable buffer under run protection. It was unchecked for some strange reason !!

Nah, I had zip success with ones I ordered as a trial so gave up on the idea. By co-incidence, I needed to burn a CD for friend so used the last 2x speed DVD-R I had left over last night. It failed with a buffer under-run burning at 2x speed. The 1st burn failure I've had. I'll wait for the next generation writers for faster speeds.
