Title: Message
Just another word of warning re DVD-Rs.

I've just discovered that the application of paper DVD-R labels onto the disks can screw up the performance and playback of the DVD-R big time. My shiny new Datasafe Classics have been rendered unusable by sticking labels on them. I also notice there is a warning on the Panasonic web site about using DVD-R labels which I hadn't noticed before :-(

The only recommended option is to get them printed directly.

Ah well, another £10 down the drain.

The Datasafe Classic disks arrived this morning. Burned a couple and they worked superbly on my standalone DVD.

Anyone want to buy 40 Datasafe Generation 3 disks unopened. Usually 74p plus VAT per disk = 40 * 0.74 + VAT =£34.78 plus shipping. I'll flog them for £25 plus postage if anyone wants to take them off my hands.

Cheers
Don

Thanks Don.

I need to order some more soon so I'm interested to hear your findings.

Any luck finding a compatible 2x blank yet?

M.

A quick update on the info I posted a while ago below....

After all my testing, finding a compatable DVD-R and buying 50 disks, Datasafe changed the dye formulation on their branded whitetop disks and didn't tell anyone. Bottom line is the 50 that arrived are now incompatable with my player. Damm and I've got 40 unopened left! I only found out after burning a couple.

They have realised they've dropped a clanger and re-released the original dye formulation as Datasafe Classic Generation 3 DVD-R. I'll order a couple of these to see if they are OK and post back my findings.
