Hi Jason,
Bluetooth use a spread spectrum technology and less power, so you can
use both. 802.11b work on a single frequency, so the interference must
not be an issue.
I use both: bluetooth for sync with Ericsson T39 and Compaq iPaq H3870
and 802.11b for home wireless network. Unfortunately, the range of
802.11 in concrete buildings is a lot much smaller as expected. With a
great difficulty I can cover the full flat. The range of Bluetooth (10m
for small power class) is allmost the same as for 802.11 in concrete
buildings, which is great. I use a Mitsumi USB Bluetooth Adapter with
modified TDK drivers and it works great. More than that, on the same
notebook I have the bluetooth adapter and the 802.11 card (Compaq
WL110)
and there is no interference problem. I can sync the iPaq and phone
with
the notebook and trough the 802.11b the notebook is connected to the
Internet (trouugh AP), so I have for iPaq a bluetooth connection to the
internet (no other interface required). It's cool.
BR,
Dan
