And don't forget Misterhouse (http://misterhouse.net) too, it's free, so
therefore cheaper than either of thew two mentioned above :-) and just as
powerfull (if not moreso) than Homeseer.

It runs just fine on Windows, but if your going to be using your PC as your
main HA controller, you will want to look at Linux as your OS. If you need a
new PC to do that, it would also be worth looking at Homevision.
