RE: FIRM Pics + Questions

This is all sounding very very interesting.  Bare with me I tend to
ramble a
bit.

I have been following Franks progress with his Firm Controller looking
at
the very professional boards his been building.

As a result I also looked at homevision, but couldn't really see why
I'd
want to control thinks via a TV.  I'd always planned on connecting
everything up to my computer and building something using that, to also
interface to say some LCD displays doted around the house.

A couple of days ago, I also looked at the www.autom8it.com site and
the
Dantes (dtoma@xxxxxxx) IR plugin, and thought that this all looked very
cool.
I followed the links on how to make the IR hardware at http://www.lirc.org/
which were good, but I didn't really now what hardware was the most
comprehensive.

Let me get this right.  Are you guys saying that I could purchase a
FIRM
controller, a PC serial interface (also from frank).  Download the
AutoM8it,
and Dans IR contrler, and then have fully zoned IR control of my whole
house?

If I've understood things correctly then I think I'd be very
interested.  Am
I correct in saying that a firm controller works out at about 100ukp?
