Mark,
I must partially disagree. It is free, but it's not superb, it's simply the
best we were able to find.
I also experienced delays, or sometimes messages coming out of order. Most
members, as I understand, are willing to move to alternative for the same
cost (zero), if it has the same functionality. And I remember that all the
proposed alternatives in the past were missing some of the bits wich were
critical for some group of the members, like mail access or web access etc.
People that suggested alternatives in the past (nobody particular in mind
here), usually suggested alternatives that would suit them, not all the
users, and I beleive as long as there is a single user (don't take this
litterally) not happy with move, we should not move.
However, I think that no member is sentimentally attached to Yahoo, it's
logo or ads. It's just it's functionality that covers needs of such a
diverse range of users and access methods.
So, I agree with previous Mark's mail where he said that correct poll
question should be:  "Assuming all the functionality of Yahoo could be
sourced elsewhere, would you prefer to stay with Yahoo?"
I beleive that everyone would vote for move, just to get rid of such hickups
and adverts. But still, there is an alternative yet to be found.
Maybe we can compose a list of features that we want replicated, and I am
sure that we will have hard time to find a substitute.

Cheers,
Nik

  Here we go again.

Sorry Chris.  But I strongly disagree.  Yahoo is a SUPERB and FREE
service.
