Lossless Audio Compression

Hello,

I have finally decided that I want to put all of our CD's (350+) on
some
sort of computer based system to allow  them to be played in a few
places at once and also to make playing a single song off of one CD
easier.

Now I am not happy using mp3, I have never been pleased with the
quality, espically when playing throught the main hifi.

So I am wondering what the options are for a lossless based compression
system and does anyone have any experience of them, I am sure that I
have heard bits and pieces before on the group.
