Re: Re: Garage Door opener & Canopy Doors (protrudes when o pen)

The other problem with the canopy conversion is its just the right height
not to see it as you walk in so you bang your head, f*** it hurts.

Just been out with a tape measure...on mine, the motor unit is approx 200cm
off the ground - this could be a bit higher if necessary as the track does
not have to be perfectly parallel with the floor.

However, the canopy attachment (which bolts to the back of the garage door)
is a fairly complex bit of metal, and sits lower - at about 180 from the
floor, or 20cm lower than the inside of the door when open.  Also bear in
mind that as the door is opening, additional clear air is needed as it
pivots up - for my car it's not a problem, but for a high, flat-backed van,
it may become an issue, as again, the canopy attachment effectively makes
the door an additional 20cms deep in terms of the clearance the van will
need.  If you've got a long garage then it'll be no problem, but if you've
got a bog standard new-home garage, with all sorts of cr@p stacked along the
back, it could be an issue.

Actually, thinking about it, you're on a double door anyway, so just along
as the van is to the left or right of the arm, it'll be no problem, will it?

Pete

PS Chamberlain do rate it for a double door - as long as it's
counter-balanced correctly, then the effort to open it should be no more
than the effort to open one of my single doors.
