I posted on this about a month ago I think.
the cheap ones from bigpockets are parrallel with a ps2 pass through

power from the keyboard port
going new, they come as the above / the above with a parallel pass through

the big pockets ones use the Identicator Technologies DFR-200 scan unit
[still in use today alongside the DFR-100 pcmcia
version and the upgraded DFR-300]
