I have looked for info on this on the net with no joy.  It would be
great because my Panasonic video can send text messages to my
Panasonic TV which are displayed in a blue banner at the bottom of
the screen.  This would be ideal for Caller ID info messages.

So far I have only discovered as much as you, i.e. it is common to
more than one brand which would suggest some sort of standard
somewhere!

If I find anything interesting I will post it here.
