The pause is there becase the movie goes over the length of a single layer.
A number of studios try to get this in a fade or static shot to avoid it
being noticed but this is not always possible. Not all directors have a
fade
or static moment that makes it easy to insert a potential pause. Some
players buffer sufficient movie to avoid it being noticable.

1 layer gives approx 133 minutes of video, 2 layers approx 266 minutes.
