You could have a look at Misterhouse (http://www.misterhouse.net) It's written
in Perl & fully extensable. It has a base IO class that I beleive would= be
easily adaptable to do whatever IO you require.

Linux or BSD. My Linux firewall was up 24/7 for well over 12 months before = I
decommisioned it.
