Some of you learned chaps may be able to point me in the correct
direction here...

I have just set up a Multitainer in a corner of the lounge and I was
trying to network it into my LAN, easy or so I thought.

On connection which is basically a big patch lead, the network
connection light goes nuts so I tried another device I knew was working,
same result, no network and the light flickering like crazy. Oh, I
checked the cable with a CAT5 tester as well and it says that the cable
is okay.

So the next thought was that perhaps the cable ran too close to a mains
source, so I routed it at least four feet away from any mains power,
still the same.

Next I thought well what if the TV or OD box is doing something to the
signal, so I shut down *everything* in that corner of the house, shut
down as in no power at all to the entire area, still the same!

Now for the really weird bit, nothing in that bit of the house or
surrounding it has changed basically since I moved in a year ago and,
although I have proved it's working, an X10 module in that area won't
work either although there appears to be no reason whatsoever that is
shouldn't.

I'm starting to think I've discovered the Scottish Bermuda Triangle of
technology or something as I just cannot figure out why this is
happening if anyone can give any help or pointer I would be grateful.

Ta

K.
