Okay now I am even more confused..........

I re booted my workstation#2(WS2) (the one with the USB connection to the
WAP11) to look at the WAP11's settings and the laptop connected
satisfactorily...........

I have now shut down the WS2 and the connection has gone again!

Does this mean I have to have the WAP USB connection permanently connected
to a working PC?

It says in the notes the USB is only there for configuration of the WAP11
which is why I want to use SNMP as my server does not have USB ports.
