I never said it was correct - I said that IE had accepted it.
Isn't it part of the 'standards' that non-standard/unrecognised tags will just be ignored?
Which is why you do
<SCRIPT>
<!--
//-->
</SCRIPT>
 
because early browsers will not recognise (and thus ignore) the <SCRIPT></SCRIPT>
and the actual code inside the tags is effectively commented out?
 
This should be the case with any browser and being so, does that not, de facto, make it correct?

If I could be arsed to write some javascript, I'll bet I could find it in
