Hi All,
I dont know if its just my mis-reading of the situation, but one of the
main
reasons I stopped reading comp.home.automation was the non stop bickering
and outright flaming of people for the most trivial of reasons.
I tried to support the creation of uk.tech.home-automation but made the
mistake of replying via a web based news reader. I dont know if I clicked
the wrong link or if it was the fault of the web interface, but my reply
went to the wrong newsgroup which was for announcements only. I alomost
instantly got jumped on by the Usenet police chastising me for doing the
wrong thing.
"You have attempted to post to uk.net.news.announce which is a
moderated
group concerning the management of Usenet in the uk.* hierarchy and which
only carries announcement posts directly connected to that subject - not
discussion.
Therefore your article has been rejected as it is not connected with
the management of Usenet in the uk.* hierarchy.
If you were following up to an RFD, then you should be posting to
uk.net.news.config or uk.net.news.management.
Continued attempts to post this article will be dealt with as spam."
I replied stating that I simply hit the link to reply and received a sort
of
apology.
Since the formation of uk.tech.home-automation I have read the posts and
occasionally replied but I have noticed that it seems to suffer from the
same sort of bickering as c.h.a although to a lesser degree at the moment.
The latest cause of disagreement seems to be someone wanting to sell a few
X10 modules which to my mind is perfectly relevant to the newsgroup.
Is it my imagination or are most Usenet groups like that.... or is it that
I
have been spoilt by the warm and friendly community that we have here. I
like UKHA_D and long may it remain as it is...THE place for UK Home
Automation discussion (and a few OT threads)
Keith
