Paul - I'll take one of those remotes off your hands!
Nice :)

Is it just me?

I just "popped out" to M**lins to get a nul-modem cable. (which
amazingly
enough, they actually had!)

by the time I'd finished wandering around, I'd picked up £80 worth of
"stuff"

I raided the clearance corner and got an ATA100 RAID card for £15, 2 x
Happuage winTV remote controls for £5 each, 2 x AGP 8MB SVGA cards for £5
each, and the mother of all hole-cutting saws for £20...

Incidentally, - I got the Happuage remotes because I thought they might be
IRMAN-like devices, - unfortunately the boxes were selophane sealed, (so I
couldn't inspect them), and there's *nothing* indicative on the outside of
the box except for a photo of the handset & receiver window.

Upon inspection, there is an IR receiver dongle (ala IRMan), but instead of
terminating in an RS232 plug, it terminates in a male S-video plug, with a
female S-Video pass-through socket. It's designed for plugging into the
S-video-in connector on WinTV cards that don't have a pukka IR-in socket
(which fortunately for me, I happen to have one of!). - anyone know if
these
are likely to be "hackable" to convert to serial output to use as
a generic
IR receiver like an IRman?

If not, anyone want a remote for their WinTV card?? ;-) - £5 + P&P

Paul G.
