Tha extension of this would be a smart security alarm system.  With a
combination of PIR detectors and embeded chips the alarm could detect that
there was someone in the room and verify that it's a family member -
otherwise it's an intruder.  This would allow you to have the alarm active
24 hours.  Obviously have to issue guests with a tag or something!
