I've been having a serious think about this one and came up with the
following,
The solution should be a '2 box' one. One box would be the Homevision
IR Zoner the other would be the 'single to multiple emitter' box.
Why? Ok, well the Homevision box speaks for itself. The question is
would you want to build the 'single to multiple emitter' that only
ever worked with Homevision? The answer has to be no. The single-to-
multiple-emitter box could be made to perform the same functions for
a number of IR sources. The HV IR zoner is effectively one source,
but what if you wanted to use the single-to-multiple-emitter box with
comfort..a new design?
So here is the idea.
HV Zoner box
1 x 3.5mm mono Jack for IR in (from Homevision)
8 x 3.5mm mono Jack for IR out - to either emitters or to the single-
to-multiple-emitter box
design as per http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ukha_d/files/HVIR.jpg
IR Distribution (single-to-multiple-emitter box)
8 x 3.5mm mono jacks from IR input box (eg HV Zoner)
64 x 3.5mm mono jacks for IR emitters - split into 8 zones of 8
outputs (i.e. each one of the 8 inputs emmits on 8 of the
outputs.
If homevision was outputting on all 8 zones could it cope?
The IR distribution box mut be able to cope with ALL 64 emitters
firing but should not affect the input box (eg HV Zoner) - Seperate
PSU? (as per Ians message?)
Perhaps this could be integrated with Ian's or Nigel's IR circuits
too to give Zone control from a remote location...
I thought if this were a more generic design then it would appeal to
more people...
Anyone got any thoughts/ideas?
