Hi Nik
Sorry i
couldnt get back to you sooner but if was quite late here in
Melbourne
when you posted (bedtime).
Anyway The zone rx units
are
placed on top of my tv,s . The transmitters are placed (stuck on) the
equipment
to be controlled.
The zone rx unit also carries the tx signal
this
exits the rx box via a 3.5mm socket . The zone splitter box plugs
into
this socket and allows up to 8 stick on emitters to be used per zone .
The zone rx unit has a cat5 socket (rj45) and
a
cat5 patch lead is plugged into this and a wall cat5 socket which goes back
to
node 0. At node 0 i have a small patch panel and i use a patch lead
connected to
the patch panel and the rx central receiver zone(s) input. The tx signal is
currently jumpered from my tx unit to my rx unit and then down thru the
cat5
cable, i hope to combine both on a pcb soon .
Regarding your question
about your 3 sony tv,s . In my case my rx units also report a signal
back
which tells which zone is active (someone using a remote). Therefore
i can
send the vol up / down etc command to correct zone(s). But only 1 zone can
be
active at any one time , and i have a red led on each zone rx unit which
indicates the cenral rx unit is bust and not to transmit until it goes
out.
Ians explaination is pretty
spot
on on the different types from what i know.
Ken Watt uses Xantech
stuff
i believe so maybe ask him a few questions
Some of us are using Homevision to control the
ir
,some are using pc,s dont know if anybody has got pc based zoned ir
another question.

Are the
transmitter and receiver placed next to each other in
each
rome (zone).
I don't see transmitters on your
pictures, just 3 receivers.
Do you
connect one cable for transmitter and one for receiver, or you can use the
same cable for both it they are in the same
casing?

Hi Nik
I have
both . I have built a 8 zone tx unit and a 8 zone rx unit and they are
controlled by Homevision . The cabling is based around Cat5.

Frank,
Do you have IR
transmiters only, or receivers as well?
Which cable do
you use?
Cheers,
Nik
Hi All
Just
a quick update on my prototype testing . Well ive programmed ir codes
for 2 zones into Homevision and have programmed the ir actions
macros to verify the recieving zones and if correct retransmit ir code .
All working ok so far ,had to relearn a couple of ir signals that hv
wouldnt respond to (now ok) . Had a bug on my pic software which i think
ive sorted .Last nite i wrote my first hv schedule event which at 11.30
pm tests the"power on " flags of my bedroom tv (zone 1) and dvd
(zone 3) and sends the power ir code to turn off if flags are set.
So Far so good.
