The problem arises when you have a long parallel run of several metres. The cables then pick up induced hum (terrible English I know)!

To put it in perspective - how many people have a home cinema system
where the speaker cables are in a mess behing the TV, bundled close
to the many mains sockets. I've had this mess for many years (just
about to sort it though) and never noticed a problem. Of course the
incomming mains supply will put out a considerably stronger field.
