Having only used the cheap one, I don't know how it
compares, but Argos
carry an SDS Plus drill for around ?50 and it seems to
do the job, tho the
roto stop still seems to drft a bit.
> > > What is and SDS / Rotary Stop
Drill? Does it stop quickly or
> > > sommat. How is it differnent to a
normal hammer drill?
> >
> > A normal 'percussion' hammer drill isn't
particularly effective at
> > drilling into hard materials like concrete
(it won't!). The SDS
> > variety have a sliding hammer that strikes
the end of the drill bit
> > - this means they WILL drill through
concrete! They also drill much
> > more quickly, as the sliding hammer
generates more energy.
> > I have <a
href=""http://www.screwfix.com/shop_product.html?1493">http://www.screwfix.com/shop_product.html?1493
and
> > <a
href=""http://www.screwfix.com/shop_product.html?8060">http://www.screwfix.com/shop_product.html?8060
Only the
> > mains DeWalt one has rotary stop.
>
> So looks like I need to save up some money for a
proper drill
> rather than my
> 2 year old 50 quid black decker. The last
lot of wall chassing I did
> managed to kill my drill, it sucked in loads of
the wall dust and
> frooze up.
> But luckily it was still within its two year
waranty so with a
> lot of hassel
> managed to get it replaced for a new one of the
same model. So I
> think I'll
> be able to persuade SWMBO that as I've not PAID
for a drill for 2
> years its
> time to buy a nice new expensive one.
