Remember that the phono input will apply RIAA equalisation
so you can expect superb bass but very poor treble! (I think I got that the
right way round - but its been a long time since I worked with phono
inputs)

If i can remember, the difference is the compatability of
the signal
levels, but your'll know the differnce when you connect it
up. Some
inputs will have lots of hum, some might be very low
volume. Of
course this may also be down to the type of amp you are
using.
Once you find a suitable input the quality was OK but again
this also
depends on your laptop. Lots of variables so suck it and
see!!
I didn't want to chance the PHONO input as i still have and
use my
Linn turntable.
