How about running it in 25mm conduit parallel to the ring main in 25mm
conduit in the same channel?

As ever, the faster you drive it, the more likely you are to have problems.

I assume you're running no faster than 100Mb/sec at the moment... if you
move to ATM (yeah, right, 'cos that's a domestic standard!) or Gigabit
ethernet, you may find that you get too many errors.
