Just a quick follow-up on the subject of face recognition; I've finally
gotten round to downloading the Intel vision library, and it looks like
one of the sample apps is a face recognition system!

I haven't looked to see how well it works, or how fast it is yet, but
it
might not be that far away from being practical in a home system.

I can envisage a system something like a fairly cheap camera in every
room (maybe two) plus a video switcher, feeding into maybe a 2 GHz box
which can track occupants from room to room.

If it's not possible now, it probably will be within 5 years....
