a 4 foot range sounds good.
i should say actually, this afternoon i finally "finished" a
project
(progressed is probably a better description).
a while ago i built an ir transmitter (simply an emitter, diode and
resistor) which connects to the serial port - in this case, a
multitainer. i'm running winlirc (http://winlirc.sourceforge.net)
but
lirc is the original linux version (http://www.lirc.org). today i
finally taped the transmitter to the front of my digibox with masking
tape - yes, it doesn't look great but it'll all be moved to my new node
0 once it is built.
winlirc/lirc accepts commands via tcp/ip, so i knocked up a quick 30
line or so visual basic program and now i can control my digibox from
my
home office. wonderful :)
now, if i can just get the wireless sender to work as well, and all
will
be well.
thanks Doogie
