Now, has anyone seen anything that can allow me to only start these fans up when it gets warm in the case ? they are all standard 4-pin PC power fans internally (not the ones that are powered from the mobo)

That way, I dont have to have them all going full pelt - and they make a bit of noise !
 
I've read that
 you can power then at 7v (instead of 12v) by connecting across the red and orange leads instead of orange and black.  Running at 7v is quite a bit quieter than 12v apparently.

Obviously don't moan at me if your PSU blows up!
