It's sometimes worth posting a question also - I got the Sony
TV codes that way. Also, with some TV's etc you can send a
channel code that turns on, but re-sending does nothing
or at worse re-sets the channel. Then only use the power
button for off (or do channel # followed by power to make
sure it's off) - still not ideal, but it can help.
