Sorry, I'm thinking of the switch end of the world, where of course there
is
only 1 wire....

Hmmm....could it be that this might work (out expensive!)?

Yeah, I don't mind fiddling about a bit, but it seems X10 is designed to
make you spend money:

Socket rocket - fits standard socket, light on/off - but no local control
:-(
LW10U - local control, dims, but STARTS OFF AT 100% :-(
Din Rail jobbie - requires some rewiring and now a momentary contact switch
:-(

If socket rocket has local control and dim, then gr8
If LW10 would start off dim/last set level then gr8 too.

Damn - which X10 co should I buy shares in then? :)
