Hi Michael,

Short answer ... NONE

Long answer....

A speaker cable is inherantly a balanced circuit as there are only two wires
and what flows up one, flows back along the other. Any interference will be
picked up equally by both wires and will cancel out. Also speaker circuits
are very low impedance typically having a source impedance (the amplifier)
of less than 1 ohm and a load impedance (the speaker) of 4-8 ohms. It would
take a very strong magnetic field to induce anything into that.

The mains cable, if it is twin and earth, is also effectivly a balanced
cable with both live and neutral carrying equal but opposite currents. This
means that any magnetic fields generated will cancel each other out.

However, as has been pointed out by Kevin, there should be a physical
barrier between mains and low voltage wiring. This can take the form of a
smaller plastic conduit inside the large conduit.

I want to run Speaker cable alongside some mains cable in a conduit for
about 30cm. What likely problems am I going to encounter. I will use it
for radio mostly but sometimes some MP3 tunes in the kitchen.

  Regards

  Michael
