Hi Ian,

It's certainly possible, for example the Noritake Serial VFD's use an
ATMEL processor. Other serial displays use PIC's so again a true
statement.

The hardware dosn't present that many problems in reality. Whats more of
an issue, is how to use the displays, what protocol to use, and how to
make them look good.
