Mark,
I'd like to be able to display whatever I like. That's because whatever
I think I might like to display now, I'll have changed my mind by the
time I fix it to the wall. Then I'll change my mind again. I'd like it
to operate over TCP/IP so that I don't have to do any cabling. I'd like
the display itself to contain enough logic so that I can send simple
messages to it over the network from whatever operating system I
choose.
I'd specifically not want to set up a Linux machine to drive it (my
Linux server has 99% downtime - I only turn it on about every four
months!). I'd like the display to be available separately from any
software, so that I can write my own. I'd also really like to have two
or four buttons that can be read from software (or transmit their
state)
- though I appreciate that this is currently 'out of scope'.
I really should get off my backside and build one myself, but since
you're offering ;-)
