I see what you're saying and agree with it, though this is not what I meant
here - I meant that I need a little project done, Nikola has a requirement,
various others need something a little different/completely new. 
If they are good for other ppl then great, but not everything has to start
as a big project aimed at loads of ppl.

Yeah, I’m just trying to get the idea out and about.. I changed the thread title to emphasize it as well.


Also, funding matters not a jot if you haven't got the time - eg, I'm sure
ppl would be willing to pay Keith up front for Switcher development, but he
will _still_ be at work 12 hours a day, still have a wife and kid to see,
still have a life to lead - the money won't change that.

Sure, but the idea is to add engineers as well, but then you do have the issue of managing them, and agreeing how best to achieve something.  Sometimes a problem in itself! The ability to listen to other approaches is something I think you learn only thru experience, along with a touch of humility.

 

Glad for the comments though.
