It *CAN* do ... I had an Athlon machine that was using an "old" ATX PSU
(non-AMD approved) and that would usually boot but a few minutes later
go titsup.com...

I'm told it was something to do with the old ATX PSU standard not
supplying enough current on the 3.3v rail.
