It's perfectly possible to dim the backlight, and in some cases actually
turn the display off, so if the output driver is sufficently intelegent
it will be able to pick up changes in the lighting settings broadcast
across xAP and make the appropriate changes.

Ok the URL was ment as an example only, but some kind of silk printed
membrane I think is in order.

With regards mounting the displays serperalty, it might be possilbe but
only with custom hardware I think VFD's are tricky to handle more soe
than LCD.

Regards to size, it's down to the distance between screwhols I think, on
a single plate, whats the screw seperation, and how big is the plate a a
whole ? Have you got pointers to Lutron pictures ?
