I purchased a VFD420, although the displays all use the same serial 
protocol, so a cheap LCD could also be substituted.

It's a nice, clear display - but it's surprising how little you can 
say in 20 characters :-)

A bulk buy is definitely recommended though - they ship by Fedex, and 
it cost almost half as much as the display itself - but it did arrive 
quickly ;-)
