Oh, my wharfedale is the original 750 as well, may have to replace it
then.  I would probably go for a Sony or Tosh, any thoughts?

Cheers
Steve

You need an analogue capture card (or a TVCard - but make sure
it supports
      full field
capture) like the Pinnacle DC10+, some MPEG2 compressing
software (i.e.
      TMPEGEnc) and
some DVD Authoring/writing software. You'll also need a fair
amount of free
      disc space
probably about 10gig or so for feature length movies.

Capture the movie from tape by playing it into the capture card,
then
      compress it
using TMPEGEnc and then load the mpeg file into the DVD
Authoring/writing
      software
      and burn to disc.

Make sure your wharedale can play DVD-R discs .. mine is the
original 750
      and it can't
I'm not sure if the newer ones can either. A good replacement
(cheap) that
      CAN see DVD-R
and also plays MP3 VCD SVCD XVCD miniDVD CD-R CD-RW is the
"Yello" which
      costs around
£128 (it also gets good reviews from HomeCinema etc)
