RE: Linksys Router
Not sure what you are saying here, All my network items are on
192.168.0.x snm 255.255.255.0 and all works.
Now the router is on 192.168.1.1 snm 255.255.255.0.
I think it would be easier to change the IP on the router to blend
in...
What side do I connect the WAP11 to? I assume it is the WAN side of the
router? but then again.....

Hello new router owner ;)
If you have a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 then all
your=
machines
must be on 192.168.1.x or they will not be able to see each other -
i.e.
you will have to change your ip addresses for the 192.168.0.x machines.
Plus you will have to set up the gateway address on each machine
to
point at the router (192.168.1.1) and probably the DNS entries on each
machine as well to point to this address.
If you use DHCP the router will allocate these all
corre=
ctly for
you. I tend to use static ip's as then I know which machine is which.
Also you might want to check that if you have a DHCP
ser=
ver active,
and the router probably enables this as a default, then the range of
addresses that it offers do not conflict or overlap with any machines
that you already have on static ip's
Or you could alter the router to be on 192.168.0.1 and
p=
oint all the
machines at that. I tend to leave the router on it's default so if I do
have to reset it then it appears in the usual place.

Hi Fluff...
You asked for it! can I ask a question or 2 plz...
I now have the router set-up, well connected, I am able to access the
web from the server it is attached too but can not access the web from
other PC's, on other PC's IE I tried setting the Connections/LAN
settings to nothing then tried using a proxy server of
http://192.168.1.1 <http://192.168.1.1> but this does not work
eithe=
r,
how do I connect IE?
Arr, just had a thought...different subnet-mask! I am using
255.255.255.0 and the router is 255.255.0.0, oops just looked and it is
using 255.255.255.0, must pay more attention...
I am using 192.168.0.x on all my items, fixed IP's, can/should I change
the router to one of these addresses?
Another thing, I used to connect to my system from the office using
Outlook Web Access using my cable modem IP, how do I now check the
modem
IP?
I tried ipconfig/all but it only gives the Router and internal LAN
IP's.
Lastly re-firewall, it says do I want to download ZoneAlarm Pro, do I
have to use this as the firewall? I have actually bought a licence for
ZAP as I was using it but stopped when I installed SBS. If I do use ZAP
does it reside on the router or my server? The reason I bought a router
was I did not feel safe with MS Firewall as the service kept stopping!
Sorry to be a pain, hope you can help.

Really ought to review it I guess.
If you've any questions feel free to drop me a line.
