This was discussed last week I think,
but
in the course of doing some research into privacy laws in the
UK, I found what you were looking for
(guy who kept
getting his windows broken?)
http://www.yourrights.org.uk/faqs/privacy/cctv-overlooking-my-property.shtml
this site is run by Liberty, the human rights organization, and to quote a
subsection:
The only form of CCTV not regulated by statute is CCTV
carried out by an individual for the purpose of "personal, family, or
household affairs." S. 36 of the Data Protection Act makes clear that
the
Act does not apply in such circumstances. However, if you are able to show
evidentially that your neighbours' CCTV cameras
are trained on your property rather than on your neighbour's
own property, it is unlikely that this exemption will apply and therefore
the
DPA may be applicable.
There is a lot more there - hope it
helps.
