Re: Question re: infrared

Hi Claudio
Cat5 seems to be quite suitable for ir . Homerun to wiring closet ok . I currently have a prototype 8 zone tx/rx unit controlled by Homevision . Im having pcb,s manufactured which will combine both my tx unit + rx unit . Other people on the list are working on ir stuff as well . If Interested have a look.
www.users.bigpond.com/armagh/ go to homevision and all my ir stuff is there

Subject: [ukha_d] Question re: infrared

Hi all,

Got some questions re: IR.

What sort of cable would I need to install to allow me to wire up my house for IR in the future? Since Ill be installing network & coax to most rooms I figure I may as well do this as well.

In the medium term I would only use this to drive some modulated components in the AV room. But may extend this in the future if I go for Homevision (this would be located elsewhere).

Would homerun cabling apply? Ie in the wiring closet could I wire various receivers from various rooms to emitters located in 2 locations?

Thanks
Claude
