Tonto, Java and Mandrake

Has anybody tried Tonto yet?  I need some help please. I've got
Mandrake
8.2 installed and having installed Tonto it needs JDK.  I've not
been
involved with Java before, so where should I get it. I know there are
several.  Foolishly I'd assumed it would be included with Linux. 
Any
advice/guidance would be appreciated. Must be JDK 1.3.x or above.
