Hi Stuart,
I believe Nik meant a lock
release device - a thingy which goes in place of the plate which the bolt
on a
Yale lock (nightlatch) slides into which is hinged and is held
tight when
current is not applied as far as I remember. I saw one in the RS Catalogue
once.

Cool, have you found a lock that acts like that? Whenever
this
has been discussed in the past, the lack of an electronic lock that
could also be opened by a key was a bit of a sticking point.
