Or alternatively a KR7A - the AT7 is a better bet if you are prepared
to
replace your existing keyboard and mouse simply because it has both USB
2.0 and firewire on board. One of these will become the future standard
for peripheral connection. I think it is most likely to be USB 2.0
simply because unless you are a diehard MAC or Sony fan you are
unlikely
to have more firewire than USB peripherals. USB 2.0 is fast enough to
connect hard disks (and is in fact faster than Ultra 160 SCSI AND far
cheaper for manufacturers to implement than both)
In addition to an Athlon XP processor, think about 512Mb RAM (don't
bother about the Corsair stuff unless you want to overclock - and you
won't need to unless you want to run the latest games - I run a very
processor intensive simulator for my helicopter so I run an XP1500 at
the same speed as a 1900)
If you want to get a case to run it in that is the absolute dog's
bollocks I've got an ATCS-110 from here

Not cheap at 256 quid *excluding* power supply but it is made of
brushed
aluminium, has a door to cover the CD Rom drive bays, and really cool
neon blue LEDs. I also bought some sound insulating foam from them
which
I will eventually get around to fitting this weekend with James Hoye's
help!

Well the mobo i'd go for is the Abit AT7
(http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_AMD_Motherboard
s_68
.html), with a XP1800+ or better CPU.
I just ordered a combination of bits to make a base machine from
overclockers.co.uk and novatech.co.uk (for example, novatech had
cheaper
cases, and cheaper gfx cards, but overclockers where cheaper for the
cpu
and
mobo)
Kind Regards,
Chris Bond
