Component and RGB are different formats.  It's highly likely that the
overlay would corrupt your RGB signal being passed through.  Whether or not
your TV's input circuitry will cope I couldn't say :(

Just covering my arse here!  My guess is that it would be OK - but it's your
(expensive) kit!
