Well basically it's a bus that requires only 1 wire to send it's data. It's
also a huge collection of devices ranging from temperature sensors to
digital
potentiometers.

The devices are produced by Dallas Semiconductors (now Maxim) and more info
can be found at their website (www.dalsemi.com)

A related product is the series of iButtons, also from Dalsemi, you can
find
out more about these at www.ibutton.com. They are more like the small watch
batteries in shape and they are mainly used as storage devices or
temperature
sensors.
