The model I borrowed is the InFocus LP400 - the image size was 800x600 resolution which displayed 8ft wide.

I can't believe most projectors make such a noise - how do you cope with having it on to watch movies?  I ask because shortly after I joined this list there was a seriously heated debate about the quality of audio leads - if such a "minor" difference in audio cable quality is such an important aspect of AV then surely the noise a projector makes is just as important if not more.

What was the projector you were disapointed with?  What size image were you projecting?

Darren Henderson (on this list) recently bought an excellent 2nd hand LCD for 1200.  Fan is quite quiet on it too!

Hi all

I am considering buying a projector and asked a colleague to lend me his to try out.  As a replacement for a TV I would have expected (wanted) a better quality image but I suppose that is the shortfall for having suck a large display - this I may be able to live with.  What concerned me was the amount of noise that came from the projectors fan when operating.  Surely this is a noisy one and there are projectors out there that are much more silent - can anyone recommend a silent one (not silly money) .  In other words - I can get this past SWMBO if it doesn't make a lot of noise otherwise "OUT".

The model I borrowed is the InFocus LP400

Cheers
