Has anybody heard of the Merlin Universal Home Entertainment Control Unit?

I think that its supposed to be a hand held device although its size and
shape
would seem to be better suited to wall mounting.
I was wondering if the IR hardware could be hacked into so that it could be
used
as a cable fed wall mounting controller?
