For Dali control you should look at Helvar =E2=80=93 they are one of the
ma=
jor Dali manufacturers of both ballasts and lighting controls and are
based=
in Dartford. Their Digidim system is popular for both residential and comm=
ercial Dali installations, although it is supplied via dealers rather than
=
sold as kit for DIY installation/configuration.

You can use the system as a basic Dali setup (so limits on the number of
Da=
li devices used) without any central processor, and use the Helvar toolbox
=
software to configure the room-groups (to allocate the load controls and
sw=
itches to rooms) and then the scene levels for those rooms. For larger
syst=
ems or where you want more sophisticated levels of control then you add
one=
of their =E2=80=9Crouters=E2=80=9D which can join together several Dali ne=
tworks into a single control installation (plus adds additional features
li=
ke astronomical control, remote management/access etc).

With Dali ballasts/transformers you only need to add the Dali
switches/keyp=
ads to the Dali network. If the devices have physical address switches
then=
it can be possible to create simple control arrangements without any addit=
ional programing tools =E2=80=93 simply setting the load controller and
swi=
tch to the same Dali address would normally give you basic on/off control,

or having a switch set to =E2=80=9Cbroadcast=E2=80=9D mode would make it
co=
ntrol any load devices to which it is physically connected. However to
crea=
te scene control using multi-button keypads etc you would normally need

patible software tools and a programming cable (for example Helvar have an

Other lighting control manufacturers have gateways that allow Dali devices

to be added to their own network, so that gives another possible approach
