From what i recall MAPLIN did three types

 

The one you have selected that goes in the hanset lead therefore you need a phone with socket and plug between handset & base - Not a moulded one.

 

The second being one with a BT line plug. Simple goes straight in the wall.

 

The third can't remember.

 

Sold lots in conjuction with the voice activated micro recorders (Dictation machines)
